Lyrically honest, raw and high energy are the terms to describe the Maryland born MC Mellz a.k.a Mr. 118. Mellz born Darius Jamel Moye was inspired musically by his parents. He was introduced to music through his father and uncle who played guitar and sang respectively and his mother always had great taste for quality music. As a child, Mellz was an avid listener of hip hop and was fascinated with beat boxing which lead into his journey discovering more about rap music. It wasn’t until spring 2009, that he had a chance meeting with an old friend Young Scroop who operated a recording studio that he began to take his calling to hip hop music seriously. ''After one day in the studio I never lost the drive to continue my music career,'' say Mellz of the experience. Mellz also known as Mr. 118 gets his alias from the main thoroughfare from where he lives which is the Germantown area of Montgomery County, Maryland. Located on the Northwest corridor of the DMV, Mellz sees himself as a natural leader of the musical community neighborhood.
